MASS FOR GRANDPARENTS: Thanks to everyone involved in the first Mass to be celebrated at our new school last Wednesday. Special thanks to Paddy Ryan for looking after the car parking.

CONFIRMATION MEETING: Wednesday February 5th @ 7 pm. in A.B.K. Centre.
CONFIRMATION MASS: Saturday February 8th @ 7 pm. in St. Anne’s Church.

PANTO DVD: Dvd’s are now ready to order (€10 for 1 night or 2 nights €15). Please pay when ordering.

ZIM DAY: Our annual fund raiser takes place this Friday, February 7th. Any unwanted toys/books/games in good condition would be very welcome or items suitable for a raffle. People have been wonderful in the past for providing cakes and buns on the day, so we are asking again!!
On the day there is great value to be had so children only need a small amount of money.

GREEN SCHOOLS: The committee will visit a water treatment plant outside Athy next Monday as part of their work for our next “Green Flag”.

FOOTBALL COACHING: Ballylinan Juvenile G.A.A. are hoping to provide football coaching at the school for boys and girls for a number of Fridays during Spring, but need to assess the level of interest. The sessions will run from
3.15 – 4.15 for children form 1st – 5th classes. If interested please complete the slip below and return to the school by Friday February 7th.

5th Class: Ardscoil na Tríonoide is holding an “Open Night” for parents and pupils currently in 5th class on Monday February 10th at 7 pm.

BISHOP’S VISIT: Newly ordained Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin, Denis Nulty visited the school last Friday. He had a busy morning, but spent quite some time speaking to the children. He enjoyed his visit and promised to return in the future. Photographs can be seen on the school website – www.ballylinannationalschool.com.

“ZIM DAY”: Don’t forget! Friday February 7th

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK – Mass for Grandparents: Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday January 29th at 1.30 pm. in the school sports hall to mark “Grandparents Day”. All grandparents (in particular) are invited. For organisational reasons we need some idea of numbers, so please complete the slip below and return to the school tomorrow (Tuesday).
Please note:
* School day finishes as normal at 2pm. for Junior and Senior Infants.
* Other children may be collected directly from the classrooms after Mass to avoid parents having to return at 3 pm.
* Parking will be available at the back of the school (Junior play area and basketball courts).

NEWSLETTER 21/01/14

ENROLMENT:
We are now accepting applications for September 2014. Parents who have already given their children’s names will receive an enrolment form in the next few days. This form should be completed and returned to the school by Friday January 31st. Enrolment forms will also be available from the office for parents who have not yet contacted the school.

VISIT:
Bishop Denis Nulty will visit the school on Friday next, January 24th. He will celebrate Mass in Arles at 10am and then visit the parish schools later in the morning.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK (Jan 26th-Feb 2nd):
The week gives everyone involved in Catholic education the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution that Catholic schools make to Irish Life.

 Wednesday January 29th is “GRANDPARENTS’ DAY”.

  • Mass will be celebrated in the School Sports Hall at 1.30 pm.
  • to mark the occasion.
  • All grandparents in particular are invited to attend.
  • Parents are also welcome.
  • Parent/Grandparents attending are permitted to bring their children home directly after the Mass.

PLEASE LET US KNOW BY TUESDAY HOW MANY ADULTS WILL BE ATTENDING FROM YOUR FAMILY.

IMMUNISATIONS:
We had a busy day yesterday and a number of children were not seen. These children will receive appointments in the post in the near future.

IMMUNISATIONS:
All children from Junior Infants and some children from Senior Infants to – 6th Class received consent forms.

Please return the completed form to the school as soon as possible.

The H.S.E. team will visit the school on Monday January 20th.

SPOT PRIZES:
Thanks to the following people who donated spot prizes for our recent Panto: Centra, Fleming’s, Murphy’s Bar, Remo’s, Ann & Michael Sourke, Bernie & Martin Dunne, Nicola Zinn-Collis, Breda Hovenden, Joyce Kearney, Paddy Ryan and Anna Mai McHugh.

BOOK COVERING:
We are purchasing a number of books which will be used from 3rd – 6th class.
To help extend the life of the books we plan to cover them with contact.
We are looking for volunteer parents from 3rd – 6th class to cover books “in the comfort of their own home!”
We will provide everything. Please give your name through your child to the class teacher.
