The Parents Association are kindly providing refreshments afterwards and are looking for volunteers to help out. If you can help out please ring the school office and let us know. Thank you.

Homework Club
There will be no homework club on Wednesday week (30thJanuary).

Opening Hours
A reminder re. the existing situation: the school opens to receive pupils each day at 9:15 a.m. As has been the case up to now, no responsibility is accepted by the Board of Management for pupils arriving before 9 a.m. Classes end each day at 3 p.m. (2 p.m. for Junior & Senior Infants). If a child is finishing at that time and being collected, parents should make their own arrangements for this and the person collecting them should be at the school not later than 3 p.m. (2 p.m. for Infants). The Board cannot accept responsibility for the children after that time. On the rare occasion where the person collecting has been unavoidably delayed, please let us know. Thank you for your cooperation and for your patience with regard to parking at the school.

Green Schools News
Thank you very much for your cooperation with our policy that children are now required to take home in their lunchboxes any lunch waste that they may have. We have noticed a marked decrease in our level of waste. The idea is not to shift the waste from school to home but to encourage a reduction in the level of waste generally. As a green school, we aim to reduce, reuse and recycle (in that order), and encourage people to be responsible for the waste that we produce.

Green Schools News
All children are now required to take home in their lunchboxes any lunch wastethat they may have. This will include any food waste and wrappers etc. and will also give you an indication whether the amount of lunch provided is appropriate for your child. If there is too much food it may be reduced, a ‘proper’ lunchbox may be reused and some wrappings may be recycled. As a green school, we aim to reduce, reuse and recycle (in that order), and encourage people to be responsible for the waste that we produce.

School Uniform
It has been decided that we will change to wearing a white T-shirt with the tracksuit from now on. Yellow T-shirts are being phased out, but may still be worn. As these need to be replaced, please do so with white ones. Please note that the school uniform (tracksuit) requires plain bottoms (no logos), not leggings. Thank you.

No Presents Needed
While teachers like to receive presents at Christmas and children like to give them there is absolutely no need and no one should feel under any pressure in this regard. Working that little bit better in school would be a great present though, a gift that would keep on giving not only to the receiver but also to the giver! As has been the custom in recent years we also ask children to refrain from giving cards to classmates as the volume of cards and envelopes generated is extraordinary. They may give one to their ‘Advent Friend’ under the guidance of the class teacher.

Christmas Carol Service & “Wriggly Nativity”
Well done to all who took part. The singing was lovely and we hope that you had an enjoyable time!

Homework Club
Homework Club will resume in the new year.

Tin Whistle
Following this week’s concert, tin whistle will resume as normal in the new year.

School Calendar
On sale at the school office and Centra, price €8. This is a nice keepsake and looking back at previous calendars it is fun to see how much the children have grown!
